January 25, 2013

We are grateful for the past warm days.  They seem to help the pain be more tolerable.  Still using a walker to walk a little.  I'm still trying to make sure that we take all measures so that Vicente is not exposed to the flu and viruses that are going around.  The phone calls and visits have brightened Vicente's day.  Thank you, thank you,  thank you.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

January 13, 2013
Overall this was a positive week.  Vicente's appt. this past Friday with the Orthopaedic Surgeon just confirmed that things are looking well.  His spine is healing well.  X-rays show everything is on track.  It will be a while before Vicente can walk without any assistance and he will still have pain on his legs and feet.  But  we are on the right track.  The doctor reminded us how the bullet had fractured the spine but missed everything else.  How blessed we are to know that he will eventually walk.  We cannot thank you enough for your concern and it is a blessing to know that we have your prayers and support.  To know that we have had so many prayers, phone calls and visits, this gives us strength and courage to carry on.  Thank you and we love you.

Yesterday Vicente had an appt. with the trauma surgeon.  The doctor gave Vicente a thumbs up on his recovering.  He  removed all his abdomen staples (about 45 of them) and his liver draining tube.  This will help him sleep a little more comfortable and move a little easier.  We still have a ways to go but we know we are on the right track.  The most difficult and uncomfortable was waiting for an hour because the doctor was in surgery at the hospital.  The doctor was very nice and helpful.  We are looking forward to our appt. with the Orthopaedic Surgeon this coming Friday.
Today Leti went back to work.  Jessica stayed home with dad and they had a good day. Leti was received back to work with an overwhelming amount of love and support from her co-workers.  She is very grateful to them for all that they have done.  Especially grateful to our Heavenly Father for his hand in our lives.

Jan. 5, 2012
Today is another positive day.  We want to thank all of our family and friends for all that you do for our family.  Prayers, time, sacrifices, that have blessed our lives so much.  This challenge has been difficult but even though all this happened during Christmas holidays, and we were not able to spend the time that we wanted with our family celebrating.  We were however, able to join the rest of the world in celebrating the birth of our Savior and feel of His peace and feel of the blessings that the Lord has given us through our family and friends.
Today our son, Jose, left for BYU.  It was a blessing having him home during this time.  Our daughter, Jessica, will be staying home from BYU for a semester to help her dad recuperate while mom works.  She is also a blessing to us.  Our son Vicente, Jr. who has also had a big challenge during this challenging time has been a strong support for us, and has blessed us with his love as well.  We feel blessed that our children have   stood together to add their strengths and love in so many ways.

Jan. 1, 2013

We look forward to a new year full of new goals and experiences.  The Lord blesses us with angels to watch over us.  Often times we cannot see those angels that surround and protect us. Other times the angels are those people who have prayed, served and loved us unconditionally. People like you are the angels who have blessed our lives the past 3 weeks.  May the Lord bless us all as we go forth and serve others in a Christlike way ..."Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
